Ivey Business School
2006 Executive MBA Class
Displays Its Extraordinary Diversity and Working Experience
(Hong Kong, July 7, 2006) Ranked 14th worldwide by the Financial
Times in 2005 and the source of the greatest number of Asian business
cases worldwide, the Ivey Business School has attracted an impressive
group of participants for its 2006 Hong Kong Executive MBA class,
which commences this August. With an average age of 39 and an
average of 16 years of working experience – which adds up
to more than 660 years of working experience between them –
they form a world-class group of executives who can learn from
each other and set an example for their peers.
On June 20, the Ivey Business School hosted a networking reception
to welcome this new group of EMBA participants. Over 60 people
joined the new class members at the gathering, including many
alumni and representatives of Ivey’s Asian Advisory Board.
The latter included Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong
Holdings Ltd.; Ms. Janet De Silva, President of Sun Life Financial
(China); and Prof. Kathleen Slaughter, Associate Dean, Asia, of
the Ivey Business School.
Professor Slaughter told the
gathering: “Ever since the Ivey Business School established
its first international campus in Hong Kong in 1998, it has committed
itself to developing business leaders who think globally, act
strategically and contribute to the societies in Asia where they
operate. To achieve this goal and to develop leaders who can tackle
cross-enterprise issues, we recently combined cross-enterprise
leadership concepts with the case study method that Ivey has always
advocated. We are delighted at how well this initiative has been
received.”
The enrollees confirmed for the August class come from 12 nationalities.
Forty percent of them are females, a relatively high proportion
compared with the typical 25 to 30 percent in EMBA programs worldwide.
Their working experience is also well above average. Looking at
this exceptional group of participants, Professor Slaughter commented:
“This class has a substantial amount of working experience.
It forms an amazing platform for our executive participants to
share their experience, best practices and insights
“The unique qualities of our program attract high-calibre
managers and executives from around the world. As always, this
year’s class includes senior managers, entrepreneurs and
professionals from the public and private sectors, and a very
wide range of industries and functions. In fact, the percentage
of senior managers in our classes is definitely growing. Many
members of this class hold the titles of Chairman, President or
Managing Director. It’s wonderful to see that Ivey is again
maintaining its reputation of offering an EMBA for Managing Directors,”
Professor Slaughter added.
The August 2006 EMBA program will be open for applications until
July 17. More information can be obtained by visiting the official
