Ivey Professor speaks at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce

Invited by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong, Prof. Shane Wang spoke on the topic Neural Networks and Social Media Analytics. He shared with a group of executives how neural networks and machine learning can be used to analyze and extract useful information from vast amounts of unstructured big data generated in real-time. This information can be useful for managers to understand consumer behavior and possibly gain insights to help steer business strategy. He shared a non-proprietary technique that can be applied by anyone with statistical training and shared some latest machine learning examples with the audiences

Shane Wang is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Ivey Business School, Western University, Canada. His research focuses on machine learning with applications in marketing, conjoint analysis, cognitive psychology, behavioral economics and Bayesian statistics. His work has appeared in Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Customer Needs and Solutions and the Journal of Mathematical Psychology. Professor Wang received his Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati.
